DESCRIPTION:As part of his role in the Education for Sustainability (EfS)
team at the GSI\, James wrote a case study about the role of EfS in perfor
ming arts education\, focusing on drama studies. Using examples and interv
iews with both staff and students at Universities James questioned attitud
es towards sustainability\, finding that it is often misunderstood. The im
pact of this\, says James\, is detrimental\, for those who work in the per
forming arts – both on stage and off – have the potential to have a pr
ofound impact over the cultural values and attitudes of an audience\, as w
ell as the carbon footprint of their company. EfS in drama education can t
hen have far and wide reaching benefits – “so shines a good deed in a
 naughty world.”
