DESCRIPTION:People love nothing more than to talk about the weather. . .On
  tuesday Scisoc will welcome Dame Julia Slingo to do just that. \n\nDame J
 ulia\, a climate scientist and meterologist\, is the Chief Scientist at th
 e Met office and Director of Climate Research at the National Centre for A
 tmospheric Science. \nAfter being first female Professor of Meterology in 
 the UK\, Dame Julia also became the first female President of the Royal Me
 terological Society\, and has won numerous awards\, including the prestigi
 ous International Meteorological Organization Prize from the World Meteoro
 logical Organization.\n\nAs Chief Scientist at the Met office she is respo
 nsible for providing scientific and technical strategy\, with her expertis
 e being in climate modelling\, tropical weather and climate change and its
  impact. \n\nJoin us on Tuesday for what will be an fascinating talk to le
 arn more about the trials of short-term and long-term weather forecasting!
