  late 1960s\; a handful of English hippies get switched on to Sufism. Retu
 rning from Morocco intent on bringing Islam to the West\, they establish a
  communal squat in Maida Vale before attempting to build a ‘Muslim villa
 ge’ in the remote Norfolk countryside.\n\nMeanwhile in Brixton\, a group
  of young West Indians\, also attracted to Sufism\, find themselves fighti
 ng off puritanical extremists who deem their beliefs heretical and their b
 lood ‘halal’. \n\nBlessed are the Strangers tells the story of how the
 se two very different groups of people came together to form Britain’s m
