DESCRIPTION:“You are what you eat.” “It’s not what I eat\, it’s 
 all in my genes”. “Nature vs nurture”. These are all common statemen
 ts that at one point or another we have probably all heard. I will take yo
 u on a quick journey that describes the steps taken to identify genes infl
 uencing certain diseases\, known as complex diseases. I will use obesity (
 and diabetes) as examples of such diseases\, and discuss how the interplay
  of genes and environment influences disease risk. I hope to dispel some c
 ommon myths about obesity along the way…
