CONTACT:Yongjiang Shi
DESCRIPTION:Yongjiang Shi would like to share his research work about Chin
ese manufacturing developments in IfM. The talk seeks to explore and expl
ain what Chinese manufacturing developments in the last 35 years can inspi
re and challenge the established operations management discipline. It has
been recognised that the classical industrialisation model and management
theories have brought China not only to the largest manufacturing nation
but also to the tipping point where its success can destroy its achievemen
ts and even the world. The new generation of operations management and ma
nufacturing strategies have to learn from the Chinese manufacturing experi
ences and explore new type of strategic and system solutions. The talk is
mainly based upon his co-authored EurOMA paper in the last year.
