nities for the use of sensors in monitoring infrastructure and constructio
n - Dr. Jennifer Schooling\, Director of the Cambridge Centre for Smart In

DESCRIPTION:The rapid development of sensing technology and data analytics
presents exciting new opportunities across a range of engineering discipl
ines. The aerospace and automotive industries are already well known for t
heir early adoption of these technologies\, but uptake in the infrastructu
re and construction industries has been slower. That is now starting to ch
ange\, and the Cambridge Centre for Smart Infrastructure and Construction
(CSIC) has been leading in implementing these solutions. Jennifer Schoolin
g\, Director of CSIC\, will outline some of the exciting deployments on ma
jor infrastructure projects including Crossrail\, Network Rail and the Nat
ional Grid power tunnels\, and how these new approaches are revolutionisin
g the way we design\, deliver and manage our assets.
