DESCRIPTION:As computational systems become more intelligent\, should we e
 xpect that\nimproved ability to communicate with humans will follow natura
 lly?\nI argue here that real communicative ability cannot be\nregarded as 
 an optional `bolt-on' and that we have to start to regard it\nas an essent
