 ut his research into the effects of environmental changes on trilobites fo
 und in a spectacular 370 million year old fossil reef system in northern W
 estern Australia. The fauna was strongly affected by two globally recognis
 ed mass extinction events and studies of these may provide an insight into
  the impact of changing nutrient fluxes on biodiversity.
