DESCRIPTION:The past fifteen years have witnessed a number of spectacular 
 results  \nin the field of Diophantine equations\, ranging from Andrew Wil
 es'  \nproof of Fermat's Last Theorem to the work of Preda Mihailescu on  
 \nCatalan's Conjecture. In this talk\, we will survey the state of the  \n
 art in the field and describe a number of open problems of wildly  \nvaria
 ble tractability.
