DESCRIPTION:Raghuram Rajan assumed charge as the 23rd Governor of the Rese
 rve Bank of India on September 2013\,  and is currently on leave from the 
 University of Chicago\, where he is the Distinguished Service Professor of
  Finance at the Booth School.  Between 2003 and 2006\, Dr Rajan was the Ch
 ief Economist and Director of Research at the International Monetary Fund.
 \n\nDr Rajan’s research interests are in banking\, corporate finance\, a
 nd economic development\, especially the role finance plays in it.\n\nThe 
 annual Marshall Lectures are a major event in the calendar of the Faculty 
 of Economics and are held in the memory of Alfred Marshall (1842-1924) who
  founded the Economics Tripos in 1902. Professor Marshall was one of the m
 ost influential economists of his time\, uniting key concepts such as supp
 ly and demand\, marginal utility and the costs of production in his book\,
  Principles of Economics in 1890. \n\nIf you would like to attend either o
