DESCRIPTION:The top quark\, by far the heaviest of the Standard Model ferm
ions\, is ubiquitous in Large Hadron Collider measurements\, both as a dom
inant background and as a potential gateway to signals of new physics. The
huge statistical sample already collected at the LHC will allow us\, for
the first time\, to study its couplings with precision. In this talk\, I w
ill discuss a global fit of top quark couplings\, phrased in the model-ind
ependent language of higher-dimensional effective operators\, to the curre
ntly available data from the LHC and Tevatron. I examine the interplay bet
ween inclusive and differential measurements\, and the complementarity of
LHC and Tevatron results\, as well as issues pertaining to the validity of
the EFT description. I will conclude with a discussion of projections for
improvement over LHC Run II\, and of the implications of our results for
the scale of new physics in the top sector.
