DESCRIPTION:In our final exciting talk of term\, we will be welcoming Dr P
 hilipp Holliger to be speaking about synthesising biochemical life.\n\nDr 
 Holliger is based here in Cambridge in the MRC Lab of Molecular Biology\, 
 investigating critical molecular events in the origin of life.\n\nCurrentl
 y he is exploring the evolution of novel polymerases\, with the aim to gen
 erate artificial genetic systems\, and\nsynthesise novel\, DNA-like polyme
 rs for applications in nanotechnology and material science.\nThey are also
  endeavouring to recreate a modern equivalent of the primordial RNA replic
 ase by exploiting compartmentalization for the evolution of ribozymes capa
 ble of replicating their own encoding sequence.\n\nThe talk is free to mem
 bers\, £2 for non-members\, and\, of course\, will be followed by a chees
 e and wine reception.\nLife membership will be available to buy for £15.\
