DESCRIPTION:The concept of validity has been broadened in the last fifteen
years and has become the key issue for those who want to create appropria
te assessments. Current definitions of validity include consideration of t
he uses and consequences of assessments. This seminar will look at differe
nt facets of validity – like face\, content and construct validity – a
nd will focus particularly on the adequacy of our interpretations and acti
ons based on test scores. The challenge to assessment developers it to sho
w that what is measured in a test or exam bears a valid relation to the de
sired knowledge and skills in the real world.
