 aught Polish and Hungarian Literature for over thirty years in Cambridge. 
 As a fourth-year student at ELTE\, Budapest he was one of the key figures 
 who organised the student march on October 23rd\, 1956\,which lead to the 
 historical event known as the Hungarian Revolution.
