DESCRIPTION:Cryo-electron microscopy\, X-ray crystallography and NMR are a
ll used to investigate the the structure and function of biological molecu
les\, and their complexes. Of these techniques cryo-electron microscopy is
the least developed and also the one in which there is the greatest room
for improvement.\n\nI will present a brief overview of the cryo-electron m
icroscopy technique and illustrate how this differs from more traditional
electron microscopy. I will then look at the current limitations and effor
ts being made to improve the technique.
