DESCRIPTION:In this talk\, I will introduce the role of the co-receptors
 CD28 and CTLA-4 in the immune system. Both CD28 and CTLA-4 molecules are e
 xpressed on the membrane of T cells and can bind CD80 and CD86 ligand mol
 ecules\, expressed on the membrane of antigen presenting cells. Classical
 immunology has identified CD28 co-receptor as enhancing the signal receive
 d by T cells from their T cell receptors (TCRs)\, and CTLA-4 as suppressin
 g TCR signals. New experimental work is supporting a different role for th
 e CTLA-4 molecule. In this talk\, I will describe work in progress by our
  group\, to model as&nbsp\; a multi-variate stochastic process the system
 of two receptors and two ligands.&nbsp\;
