DESCRIPTION:The LHC experiments have reported a tentative excess in compar
ison to Standard Model predictions in events with two energetic photons. \
nA signal would consist of an object of mass 750 GeV being produced via th
e collision of two protons\, which subsequently decays into the two photon
s (the same channel through which the Higgs boson was discovered\, but at
a much higher mass). I shall first review the experimental situation\, the
n try to summarise the phenomenological scenarios being put forward to exp
 lain the excess.
