DESCRIPTION:A wide range of simulation and modelling methods are applied t
 o support\nthe drug discovery process. In this presentation we will review
  a\nspectrum of methods and consider their relative strengths and\nweaknes
 ses\, in light of the requirements for their practical application\nin an 
 industrial environment. Ultimately\, the value from computational\nmethods
  is derived by making good decisions regarding the optimisation\nof compou
 nds\, leading quickly to a high quality drug candidate with a\ngood chance
  of success in clinical trials. We will discuss some of the\nchallenges th
 at this presents\, in particular the need to simultaneously\nbalance sever
 al\, often competing\, factors\; a process described as\nmulti-parameter o
 ptimisation. Finally\, we will draw some conclusions\nregarding the need f
 or new methods and the challenges facing their\nadoption.\n
