DESCRIPTION:Dopamine neurons are known to reflect the economic value of re
 wards. In this talk\, I will describe unpublished experiments in which we 
 investigated how dopamine value signals emerge during learning about proba
 bilistic rewards. I will then present new experiments in which we asked ho
 w manipulation of dopamine neurons\, using optogenetic methods\, can influ
 ence animals’ perceptual choices. These experiments demonstrate diverse 
 roles dopamine plays in various decision contexts.
