DESCRIPTION:In this talk the problem of pairwise registration of functiona
 l and/or shape data\, when the problem is cast within the framework of det
 ermining a warping or reparameterization function that best matches the fu
 nctions/curves\, will be discussed. Based on a constructive definition of 
 a distribution on the set of warping functions\, model and stochastic opti
 misation-based approaches to the registration problem will be discussed. S
 ome examples from simulated and real datasets will be presented.
