DESCRIPTION:The Consultant Outcomes Publication (COP) is an NHS England in
 itiative to publish outcome data for named doctors\, in particular surgica
 l success rates. As 'outlying' surgeons will be publicly identified\, some
  careful statistical techniques are necessary to try to avoid false positi
 ves\, taking into account both differing case-mix\, unmeasured risk factor
 s\, and the perils of 'multiple testing'.
