 for engineers and scientists. \n\nWe live in a golden age of opportunity f
 or researchers of all disciplines to come together and solve the major cha
 llenges of the world like ageing populations\, big data\, clean energy\, h
 ealthcare costs\, economic growth\, resource security and sustainability.\
 n\nIn healthcare\, as the population of the world ages understanding the g
 enetic “make-up” and thus “health” of nations is essential for eff
 ective social engineering and deploying of scarce resources.\n\nLong term 
 healthcare solutions require the tie in of the outputs of DNA sequencing\,
  gene editing\, cell\, animal and tissue model studies with drug and compa
 nion diagnostic development to deliver a pharmacopeia of drugs targeted to
  the drivers of disease as well as novel gene and cell therapies that reve
 rt disease to a normalised state.\n\nA further challenge then comes in lin
 king patient data with diagnosticians and drug reimbursement models to ena
 ble a more networked and consumer-driven approach to medicine.\n\nThis tal
 k will outline the new healthcare paradigm and will identify opportunities
  that exist for engineers and scientists in the academic\, not-for-profit 
 and industrial sectors.
