DESCRIPTION:This seminar will explore current research on the relationship
  between play and the brain development of young children. Dr Russo will d
 iscuss how the findings are reflected within the development and implement
 ation of early childhood curricula in the USA. \n\nUsing a case study of a
 n independent school located in NYC\, Dr Russo will identify how this lab 
 school uses research to link theory and practice within a play-based learn
 ing environment that supports and scaffolds the development of creativity\
 , curiosity\, grit and collaboration and incorporates neuroscience into it
 s curricula school-wide.\n\nDr. Russo received her Ed.D. in Early Childhoo
 d Education from Teachers College\, Columbia University where she was a fa
 culty member in the Department of Curriculum before joining SUNY New Paltz
 . \n\nShe conducts research at the Blue School\, NYC\, founded and develop
 ed by the Blue Man Group. Dr. Russo supports the school in its documentati
 on and research goals and develops curriculum\, professional development\,
