DESCRIPTION:This is a rehearsal for the presentation that Maria will give
at CHI 2016.\n\nAbstract:\nProbabilistic programming languages\, such as I
nfer.NET\,\nattempt to unify general purpose programming with probabilisti
c\nmodelling\, in order to introduce a more abstract and powerful way of\n
applying probabilistic models to real-world problems. This approach is\nbe
coming especially popular for data analytics\, as many statistical\ntechni
ques are more naturally expressed using such languages. However\,\nthe bas
ic concepts of probabilistic programming differ from those of\nconventiona
l programming\, which means that learning such language could be a challen
ge even for an experienced programmer.\n\nIn this talk\, I will present a
 live\, multiple-representation environment for probabilistic programming b
ased on the Infer.NET framework\, addressing these conceptual differences
and making the capabilities of probabilistic\nprogramming more accessible
 to students and end-user developers.
