 idge University is going to share his thoughts about African industry deve
 lopment policy.  Jostein will introduce the report "Transformative Industr
 ial Policy for Africa"\, published by the United Nations Economic Commissi
 on for Africa\, which he co-authored with Ha-Joon Chang\, and Muhammad Irf
 an.\n\nAfrican countries are in the process of upgrading and promoting the
  development of higher-productivity sectors\, including manufacturing and 
 high-end services. One of the key elements is the need to expand the indus
 trial sector\, which provides opportunities for employment generation\, in
 tegration and value addition for boosting export earnings and income gener
 ation.\n\nThis specialized report is intended as a contribution to the thi
 nking process of how to conceptualize and implement transformative industr
 ial policies. It aims to serve as a guide for supporting member states and
  provide concrete strategies for the integration of industrial policies in
 to national development plans across the continent.
