DESCRIPTION:The book\, The Unfeathered Bird\, originally intended as a man
 ual for bird artists\, has been 25 years in the making. Only much later di
 d it blossom into something far more ambitious. A world away from textbook
 s and diagrams\, this is a work equally intended for scientists and artist
 s\, indeed anyone with an appreciation of birds or an interest in their ad
 aptations and behavior. It includes illustrations of 200 species\, all mad
 e from actual specimens\, many in lifelike positions. Virtually all the co
 mplete skeletons were prepared and reconstructed at home from specimens do
 nated from zoos\, wildlife hospitals and conservation charities.
