DESCRIPTION:Solar flares are explosion in the solar atmosphere with energy
10^29^ -10^32^ erg\, and sometimes cause troubles and disasters in our mo
dern civilization. Recent observations by Kepler satellite revealed the oc
currence of many superflares (with energy of 10^33^ -10^35^ erg) on solar
type stars\, including some Sun-like stars rotating as slow as the Sun. St
atistical data analysis suggests that superflares with energy of 10^34^ er
g occur once in 800 yr\, and superflares with 10^35^ erg occur once in 500
0 yr. We shall discuss whether superflares with energy more than 10^33^ er
g can occur on the Sun\, and discuss what will happen on the Earth if such
  superflares occur on the Sun.
