DESCRIPTION:The Lennard-Jones Centre is pleased to announce a visit by Pro
 fessor Nicola Spaldin\, ETH\, Zürich\, on Thursday 12th and Friday 13th M
 ay 2016.\n\nNicola is a highly distinguished theorist who has made many se
 minal contributions to new computational and theoretical tools for calcula
 ting the properties of complex solids and their application to the rationa
 l design and understanding of new multifunctional materials. She is a fell
 ow of the APS\, MRS and AAAS and has won numerous awards for her research 
 and educational activities.\n\nShe has generously agreed to give a series 
 of Masterclass lectures which will provide a unique opportunity for all LJ
 C students and post-docs to learn about computational methods in complex s
 olids and multiferroics. The lectures will be accessible to computational 
 and theoretical physicists\, chemists and materials scientists. All member
 s of the LJC are welcome.
