DESCRIPTION:Arild Aspelund from the Norwegian University of Science and TE
chnology is going to introduce his research work on the firm sustainabilit
y and the relation to firm performance.\n\n"Recently\, Garetti and Taisch
(2012) reviewed the development of European manufacturing of the last few
decades. They concluded that sustainability remains the most pertinent cha
llenge for the future development of the sector. This statement is strengt
hened by the recent Paris agreement (COP21)\, where 195 countries signed t
he first-ever universal\, legally binding global climate deal. Arguably\,
the sustainability challenge is the major industrial challenge of our time
\, but is it reasonable to assume that the industry itself will be able to
address these challenges if sustainability strategies in general are unpr
ofitable as most international managers seems to think? This talk reports
some recent research on the sustainability – firm performance relationsh
ip in order to better understand how value and competitiveness can be crea
ted by adopting sustainability strategies in manufacturing firms."
