and formulation of uncertainty - David Zoltowski\, University of Cambridge

DESCRIPTION:It is often necessary to incorporate uncertainty in the decisi
on-making process to make optimal or near-optimal decisions. However\, the
computations that underlie the decision-making process and formulation of
uncertainty are unclear. In this talk\, I will cover recent theories and
experiments in perceptual decision-making. First\, I will review definitio
ns of uncertainty and confidence. Then\, I will briefly overview common mo
dels of the perceptual decision-making process. Finally\, in the rest of t
he talk I will cover a series of recent experimental results investigating
the representation of uncertainty in the human brain and the corresponden
ce between models of perceptual decision-making and human behavior.
