  on the solid matrix\, causing deformation. &nbsp\;Likewise\, flow through
  reactive porous media may cause dissolution\, precipitation\, freezing an
 d melting. &nbsp\;Here we will review the theoretical framework for compac
 tion and dissolution in porous media\, and introduce a new method for meas
 uring the permeability and bulk modulus of complex porous media.
