DESCRIPTION:Scientists need to query a multitude of different data resourc
es in order to obtain useful insights. But how difficult is it to query mu
ltiple data sources? This talk delves into the factors that impact data in
tegration\, focusing on the ones that are frequently encountered in the we
b era. It then presents a vision for data integration\, along with some in
itial steps towards the fulfilment of the vision. The last part of this ta
lk presents data integration issues that I am studying.\n\nEfthymia Tsamou
ra received her PhD in Computer Science in 2013. Since June 2013 she is a
postdoctoral researcher in the Computer Science Department of University o
f Oxford\, working with Professor Michael Benedikt on problems related to
querying semantically interrelated resources. Her research interests lie i
n the fields of data integration and query answering under constraints\, d
istributed query optimization\, multi-objective query optimization and gri
d computing.\n\nDr Efthymia Tsamoura received several distinctions both du
ring her undergraduate and postgraduate studies. On March 2016 she was awa
rded an Early Career Research Fellowship in Data Science from the Alan Tur
 ing Institute
