DESCRIPTION:The LIGO Scientific Collaboration and the Virgo Collaboration 
 have today announced the second detection of a binary black hole coalescen
 ce. They have also released a paper summarising all of the results of the 
 first observing run of Advanced LIGO\, which ran from September 2015 until
  January this year. I will summarise the key results from this exciting\na
 nnouncement\, focusing on their astrophysical implications.\n
