 the country's most senior scientists in his capacity as Astronomer Royal a
 t the University of Cambridge. However\, he is also a co-founder of the Ce
 ntre for the Study of Existential Risk (CSER) in Cambridge\, an initiative
  dedicated to studying and mitigating against technological and environmen
 tal risks that could lead to human extinction. He has authored 11 books an
 d hundreds of academic articles\, adequately qualifying him to address suc
