DESCRIPTION:The Dual-Tree Complex Wavelet Transform (DT CWT) is now a\nrea
sonably well-known technique for image analysis. It overcomes the\nproblem
s of shift dependency and poor directional selectivity of the\nconventiona
 l Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT)\, and produces a multiscale\ndirectiona
lly selective filterbank that quite closely imitates the V1\ncortical filt
ers in the vision systems of many mammals\, including\nhumans. In this tal
k I will describe the basic ideas behind the DT CWT\nand discuss some appl
 ications\, such as basic denoising\, image\nregistration and fusion\, and
 rotation-invariant feature matching for\nobject detection.\n
