DESCRIPTION:Imagine yourself charging your mobile and your laptop for only
a few seconds. Think of the transport revolution if the charging time of
the electric cars drops from hours to minutes\, and the speed of electric
vehicles can approach that of today's petrol-fuelled cars. Fantasize abou
t having a transparent car that you can fold and store under your bed. Als
o imagine the world when engineers can build a skyscraper supported by onl
y few invisible microscopic pillars\, and under oceans tunnels with walls
thinner than Saran Wrap. These are not dreams\, but the wonder material\,
graphene\, can help us achieve these goals and beyond. \n\nBut what is gra
phene? What is so special about it? What makes scientists believe it is th
e material of the future\, and how can we produce it? This talk will answe
r these questions and try to bring to light the mysterious science of the
 world’s thinnest and strongest material.
