DESCRIPTION:September 14 sees the launch of a "major new book":https://www

 s on the work of Bruno Latour.  To mark the event\, CRASSH is hosting a le
 cture by Professor Latour\, followed by the launch of the book and a moder
 ated conversation between him and Professor de Vries.  Afterwards there wi
 ll be a drinks reception in the Atrium of the Alison Richard building.  Al
 l welcome\, but it's important to register beforehand.\n\n*About the speak
 ers*\n\n*Bruno Latour* is a distinguished philosopher and an anthropologis
 t. From 1982 to 2006\, he was a professor at the _Centre de Sociologie de 
 l'Innovation_ at the _Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Mines_ in Paris and 
 has held visiting professorships at UCSD\, the London School of Economics 
 and in the History of Science department at Harvard\n\nSince 2006 he has b
 een professor at Sciences Po\, Paris and is now director of the Sciences P
 o médialab and  Professor-at-Large at Cornell University.  Recent works i
 nclude _Reassembling the Social: An Introduction to Actor-Network Theory_\
 ,  _Our Modern Cult of the Factish Gods_\, _Rejoicing - Or the Torments of
  Religious Speech_ and _An Inquiry into Modes of Existence_.  He curated t
 he ZKM Center for Art and Media Karlsruhe exhibitions _ICONOCLASH (2002)_\
 ,  _Making Things Public_ (2005) and\, recently\,  _Reset Modernity!_  He 
 has also co-edited the accompanying catalogues\, which are published by MI
 T Press.\n\n*Gerard de Vries*  is Professor Emeritus of Philosophy of Scie
 nce at the University of Amsterdam.  From 2005 to 2015 he was a member of 
 the Council of the Netherlands "Scientific Council for Government Policy":
