DESCRIPTION:This talk presents new research on Sandro Botticelli's late\nf
 ifteenth-century illustrations of Dante's Paradiso. I interrogate the\nsta
 tus of the illustrations with respect to the text and reflect on the\nways
  in which Botticelli sought to comment\, visualise\, or\n'remediate' the v
 isions of Dante's Paradiso. I argue that\nBotticelli\, like Dante\, seeks 
 to find new ways to involve the reader or\nviewer in the encounters that c
 onstitute his Paradiso.
