DESCRIPTION:Real readers reading is an exciting series of linked research 
 seminars which now continues into its third year running two seminars in t
 he Michaelmas term of 2016 as part of the PLACE academic group events in 2
 016-2017.\n\nIn this seminar series\, different presenters share their exp
 erience of empirical reading research and reflect on how their various met
 hodologies afford deeper insight into reading and readers. We encourage pa
 rticipants to attend both sessions to make the most of the cumulative effe
 ct of the presentations and discussion.  This year we will focus on resear
 ch in the Faculty.\n\nIt is not to be missed by anyone with an interest in
  reading research. *Places are limited\, so reserve yours now to avoid dis

 nvolves presentations given by Faculty doctoral students who are all at di
 fferent stages with their PhD degrees. They will focus specifically on the
  methodologies and research methods by which they are exploring spaces in 
 which people read. These spaces include: places where young children learn
  to read in primary schools\; places where children choose to read such as
  library spaces\; and spaces afforded by actual books themselves such as t
 he layout of the words and images. Each presenter will share some of their
  thinking about the way they have already undertaken research (or are plan
 ning to undertake it in the near future). They will speak for 15 minutes a
 nd then spend 15 minutes answering questions and\, cumulatively\, generati
 ng discussion. It promises to be a fascinating session.
