DESCRIPTION:The acute stress response comprises a cascade of neurochemical
  changes\, exerting intricately timed and widespread effects on neural exc
 itability.  I will argue that these changes enable comprehensive shifts in
  neuronal functioning at the level of large-scale networks.  I will then s
 how how these dynamic shifts can explain stress-related changes in cogniti
 ve functioning.
