DESCRIPTION:Structural engineers work collaboratively with a professional 
 design team to deliver the vision of clients and architects. Many challeng
 es arise along the process of project delivery\, varying from concept to d
 esign to site-related. In this talk\, specific design challenges will be d
 iscussed related to several projects\, including long-span timber floor sy
 stems\, folded plate timber roofs and an upside down car art installation.
  The importance of carrying out research to inform the design philosophy w
 ill also be addressed.
