DESCRIPTION:Modern astronomy involves the study of surveys of many hundred
s of thousands of galaxies in an attempt to understand how the Universe ar
ound us came to be the way it is. Surprisingly\, the results lead us to co
nsider a surprising question: is our own Milky Way special\, or are we liv
ing within just another humdrum spiral? The Sky at Night’s Chris Lintott
(an ex-CUAS chairman) will consider this question\, including results fro
m the Galaxy Zoo project he leads.\n\nAll regular talks and obsnights are
free to members (or cost £2 for non-members) – membership can be bought
(£12 life\, £7 annual) at any of our regular events.
