DESCRIPTION:On the 14th of October\, Future of Sentience Cambridge will be
  hosting a launch event. We are a brand new student society empowering the
  next generation of leaders to steer technological development wisely.\n\n
 The format of the event will be a panel featuring the following speakers:\
 n\nMartin Rees - one of the cofounders of the Centre for the Study of Exis
 tential Risk (CSER)\, author of 'Our Final Century?' He is also Astronomer
  Royal\, and previously President of the Royal Society and Master of Trini
 ty College.\n\nJess Whittlestone - a PhD student in Behavioural Science\, 
 and has spent the last year working for the Behavioural Insights Team\, fo
 cusing on how to improve the use of evidence and measurement of outcomes i
 n foreign policy and security.\n\nEdward Perello - cofounder and CBO at De
 sktop Genetics and has formerly worked with the European Union on science 
 policy and VERTIC on arms control.\n\nCatherine Rhodes - Academic Project 
 Manager at CSER and works across all of CSER's research projects. Her work
  has broadly focused on the interactions between and respective roles of s
 cience and governance in addressing major global challenges.\n\n----------

 f disciplines\, from philosophy to mathematics\, regardless of your intere
 sts or area of study\, the topics our society intends to tackle are wide-r
