DESCRIPTION:There is an interesting application of methods from simplicial
  homotopy theory to category theory. In particular\, one can construct a c
 lassifying space for every small category and it coincides with the classi
 fying space of a group that is represented as a category with one object. 
 I want to discuss this construction and then focus on the application to t
 opological monoids.
