DESCRIPTION:Simon Hughes is Head of Public Affairs at The Open University.
  A graduate of Selwyn College\, Cambridge\, he was Member of Parliament fo
 r Bermondsey and Old Southwark from 1983 to 2015\, serving as Deputy Leade
 r of the Liberal Democrats from 2010 to 2014.\n\nThis event is part of the
  Madingley Conversations series of talks on 'The Future of Lifelong Learni
 ng'. It takes place at Madingley Hall\, home of the University of Cambridg
 e Institute of Continuing Education (ICE) – a pioneering centre for pers
 onal enrichment and professional development continuing education.\n\nThe 
 event will take the form of a lecture followed by a question and answer se
 ssion\, lasting around one hour in total. This will be followed by a buffe
 t reception where you can meet the speaker and chat with other members of
