he workshop will be led by Peter McIntyre\, the Director of Coaching of 80
\,000 Hours\, and will be a mixture of 15 minute talks and exercises. By t
he end you’ll have a plan and some clear next steps.\n\nWe'll be doing t
wo more workshops this month so make sure that you get your ticket for at
least one of them!\n\nCome spend an afternoon figuring out what to do with
your life. Sign up for a free place:\nhttps://80000hours.typeform.com/to/
H32Nc1\n\n------------\n\nThis workshop was run in Cambridge in January an
d May and over 100 people attended\, who gave such positive feedback like
"This was the first careers workshop I haven't hated".\n\nKeep reading for
details of what will be covered\, testimonials\, and FAQ.\n\nWho we are:\
n80\,000 Hours is an independent non-profit\, which helps graduates find f
ulfilling jobs with a big positive impact on the world. We’ve done five
years of research into how to find the best career\, coached hundreds of p
eople\, and have an online career guide that’s read by half a million pe
 ople each year.\n\n------------\n\nWhat we’ll cover:\n\n* 1) What is ful
filling work anyway?\nWe’ll take you through what the latest psychology
research shows is most important to being satisfied at work.\n* 2) In whic
h career can you have the greatest social impact?\nWhat is “social impac
t”\, and what options are there beyond nonprofits and teaching?\n* 3) Wh
ich jobs put you in a better position for the future?\nWe’ll cover what
to look for in your first couple of jobs and some especially promising opt
ions to consider.\n* 4) How to put together your plan\nWe’ll tell you ho
w to figure out which options are best for you and make a plan for the com
ing years. And we won’t just tell you to follow your passion.\n* 5) How
to actually get the jobs you want\nThe best advice out there on following
through on your plan and landing the jobs you want.\n\n------------\n\nTes
timonials from Oxford and Cambridge students:\n“This workshop was absolu
tely amazing. I would recommend it to anyone who considers social impact a
factor in their career plans. This afternoon was probably the most produc
tive afternoon I have had this year.”\n- Harri Besceli\n\n“This was th
e best workshop I have been to so far...Great timing and presenting\, stra
ight to the facts (very useful and not cliche facts and advice).”\n- Mar
co Bodnar\n\n“80000 Hours is the sole source of any sanity or clarity wh
ich may now be present in my career plans\, and the organisation I am most
grateful to for introducing a sense that I know where I am going\, have c
ontrol over where I am going and am excited about it into my life.”\n- E
 leanor Stephens\n\n------------\n\nFAQ:\n* 1) I've already read a lot of 8
0\,000 Hours content\, is this for me?\nWe'll cover all our intro material
\, so if you'll find that boring\, then it's not for you. However\, if you
'd like to spend a day thinking through all the basics and how they apply
to your situation\, it’ll still be helpful. Many people who’ve been fa
miliar with 80\,000 Hours for a while have still found it really useful.\n
 * 2) I’ve already worked for over 6 years\, is this for me?\nAbout 70% o
f the content will be relevant to everyone\, while 30% is aimed at people
early in their career. If you’re later in your career\, it will still be
useful\, but not as useful as for people early in their careers.\n* 3) I
’m already decided on an area (e.g. medicine / finance / economics etc).
Is it still worth me coming along?\nIt’ll be less useful\, but can stil
l help you with decisions like what speciality to focus on.\n* 4) Can I st
ay for part of the day?\nWe’d prefer you not to come in and out. If you
only need to miss an hour though that’s OK.\n\n
