DESCRIPTION:High dynamic range (HDR) imaging has seen an immense developme
nt the last two decades and is today an important aspect in a wide range o
f applications in computer graphics and image processing. With the use of
tone-mapping the material can be adapted for viewing on a display device t
hat is limited in terms of dynamic range and color gamut. However\, HDR vi
deo introduces a set of additional challenges as compared to static images
.\nIn this talk\, a recent method for display of HDR video will be describ
ed. It makes use of a set of novel algorithms that enables high quality to
ne-mapping in real-time\, taking into account the noise characteristics of
the input. Furthermore\, I will briefly describe our open source HDR vide
o codec\, which is constructed from an objective quality evaluation. Final
ly\, I will say a few words about a current research project that is aimed
at empirically deriving an optimal display algorithm from experimental da
 ta.
