 ted by Cambridge British Science Association and Cambridge University Heal
 th Partners to mark World Diabetes Day. SciBar brings interesting\, topica
 l areas of science to the general public with scientific talks followed by
  lively discussion.\n\nType 1 diabetes is one of the most common chronic d
 iseases in children and there is a rapid increase in the number affected e
 ach year. The treatment usually requires the injection of insulin several 
 times a day to replace what the pancreas cannot produce itself.  In this S
 ciBar\, Dr Frank Waldron-Lynch will discuss how his research is aiming to 
 develop innovative treatments that could eradicate the need for regular in
 jections or pumps.\n\nOur second speaker\, Dr Nita Forouhi\, manages a pro
 gramme of research that aims to understand the association between diet an
 d the risk of diabetes\, obesity and related disorders. Dietary factors ca
 n either elevate or reduce the risk of developing diabetes. Dr Forouhi wil
 l speak about improved methods to assess diet\, and how objectively measur
 ed nutritional biomarkers can help.\n\nEntry is FREE and refreshments are
