DESCRIPTION:When a freshly opened beer bottle is impacted on its mouth by
an object (usually another bottle)\, it spills the liquid inside in the fo
rm of foam within a matter of a second.\nThe detailed physical explanation
of this phenomenon involves several topics in Fluid Mechanics\, and in pa
rticular in mass transfer\, which are of great importance to describe othe
r natural and industrial flows: cavitation\, bubble collapse\, mass transf
er in bubbly flows\, autocatalytic plumes\, …\nWe will use the explanati
on of the beer tapping prank to explore several of these topics\, pointing
out the connections to other aspects of natural sciences.\n
