DESCRIPTION:The Sir Richard Stone Annual Lecture is organized by the Facul
 ty of Economics and honours Sir Richard Stone\, a Noble Prize Laureate in 
 Economics\, founding Director of the Department of Applied Economics in th
 e University of Cambridge and a major contributor to developments in micro
 economics. This year’s lecture will explore how models of cultural evolu
 tion can be useful in understanding the dynamics of institutions and organ
 izations.  The ideas developed offer a fresh perspective on the political 
 economy of democratic institutions as well as the interplay between polici
 es and cultural change.
